The Adventures of Tintin (2011) - Movie Review -
You know you're in for an awesome experience when two great people, Hergé & Spielberg come under one banner. Need I say much about the orange haired reporter who has captivated our imaginations for decades. Tintin's charisma and quick wit is back with Bang! on the big screen. Before Hergé passed away in 1983, he had said that if any filmmaker was to ever transform Tintin into a movie then Spielberg was the man. And after two long decades it has come back to us with the
best possible man to have directed it.
The movie is based on The Secretes of The Unicorn, the eleventh title in the comic series by Hergé. If you don't already know the story here's a small synopsis for you.
Tintin comes across a handmade miniature ship at a market and decides to
Purchase it. Shortly after, Tintin and his loyal companion Snowy; the beloved white wire fox terrier are intrigued by the ship and wonder why many people are desperately after it. Soon enough they realise the ship has a hidden story related to a lost treasure that dates long back, and then the adventure begins. As the story unfolds Tintin comes across the much loved Captain Haddock who can't stop sipping on a bottle of whiskey all the time and come up with hilarious taunts for people who irk him off. The team pair up and an adventure that pretty much spans the whole globe starts.
Tintin without a doubt is the best animated movie of the year. Fast paced, filled with action, awesome chase sequences and yet humorous, you won't get your eyes off the screen for even a second. The movie is bound to remind you of your childhood. Spielberg brings back all those loved characters from the comic; The Thompsons, Bianca Castafiore, Lester and more, the very characters we've grown up reading about, presented just the way you had imagined them in your head if not better.
The voice casting is simply brilliant. I went into the movie wondering what Tintin might sound like or how Captain Haddock might sound when he screams "Billions of bilious blue blistering barnacles!" and honestly I couldn't have asked for a better match of the voice I had imagined and the voice I was hearing.
The 3D motion capture and the CGI graphics are out of this world, detailed to the point, I would easily mistake it for a real like motion picture.
Verdict: ***** If you haven't already seen it, I suggest you buy yourself a ticket RIGHT NOW!
